Call for head-to-head research for non-commercial clinical trials or research experiments ABM/2022/3

The Medical Research Agency plans to announce on July 11, 2022 the Call for Head-to-Head Research for Non-Commercial Clinical Trials or Research Experiments (ABM/2022/3)

Scientific advances in recent years have been associated with the emergence on the market of many different medical technologies that can be used to treat the same disease entity, which, on the one hand, expands the therapeutic options for many diseases - but on the other hand, poses a difficult task for policy makers and clinicians to evaluate and select the most effective therapy for a given indication.

According to the principles of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM), the choice of therapy used in clinical practice should be based on reliable, high-quality clinical data, derived first from studies that allow direct comparison of the efficacy and safety of alternative therapeutic options, i.e. head-to-head studies.

ABM's support of head-to-head studies will improve the situation for patients, primarily by increasing knowledge regarding the most clinically optimal therapy, and by increasing access to new and effective treatment options.
